Happy Wednesday!

Hooray today is Wednesday!  It's been a crazy week already and I'm looking forward to the downward slope to the weekend.

Here's a friendly reminder that the One Yard Wonder Idea Contest will close on Friday, March 30th, so if you haven't submitted your idea, do it today!  I'm just pulling the fat quarters together this week and I think you're gonna like them.

My dear mother, Cathie B. and I signed up for a fun block of the month at our neighborhood quilting store, Just Sew.  These are fun for us because we get to learn new piecing techniques and try new patterns.  It's also fun because it's completely solid colors.  If you see my quilts, I do love lots of pattern, pattern, pattern everywhere.  So this is a break into a whole new world!

These blocks are all from the book Sampler Quilts and Blocks by Fons and Porter.

Block #1 - Clay's Choice Page 15
 Block #2 Dutchman's Puzzle page 20
And here's a pic of the book - one I think will be well worn in the days ahead.

Today my dear mother sent me a link with a proposed solution to my need for a vintage motor home. While this is not exactly what I had in mind, it is an interesting and innovative concept.

Questions:
1.Where's the Restroom
2. Where do the hooligans ride?

Perhaps we strap Granny to the roof? If you know what movie thats from, give yourself a high five!

Happy Camping!

Plan C is Complete!

A few days ago I posted a very fuzzy photo of my Schnibbling project.  This little darling is made from two charm packs in Moda's Reunion line and a little bit of Moda White. This week my friend Ms. Peggy did a splendid machine quilt for me and last night I quickly finished the binding.
This is a mini quilt, only 30X30, but it was my first attempt at tiny piecing and I think it came together nicely with a little help in the layout department from Mr.V.
Schnibbling is so much fun, I think I'll try it again!

P.S.  Don't forget to submit a One Yard Wonder!

One Yard Wonder?

The Boss Lady is getting ready for her 2012 spring camping extravaganza!  The weather is warm and sunny, there's a hint of campfire on the wind and I can hear the Frank Sinatra tunes wafting from the warbly Boss Lady stereo (she only has one tape).

Every girl needs a new outfit and a little sparkle for her debut and a vintage trailer is no different!  So here's a challenge:  I have one - just 1- yard of this fantastic Sisters of the Wild Frontier by Alexander Henry.

Try as I might, I can't find any more, so this has to be used for something fabulous! hmmm...

So here's where I need your help. I need an idea for a 1 Yard Wonder! What would you do with only one yard?

Leave a comment with your best idea. I'll pick my favorite and the winner will receive a fine selection of western-themed fat quarters straight from the VTL stash.  I can't wait to hear your ideas!

Happy Camping!

Twila's Book

Yesterday my darling sister Linds and I took a scrapbooking class at our local Archiver's. Linds always finds the most fun activities. This time we made a mini-album called So Simple. I decided to use it for a tribute to Mr. Vintage's late Grandmother, Twila Fay Clark. I love vintage photos and these collection of papers and embellishments from the Lost and Found Collection by My Mind's Eye fit perfectly! I should have waited to give it to Mr. V for his birthday, but I was too excited. I hope he loves it!

Ended with my favorite photo of Mr. V, Grandma and little Reese. So that's it - a quick little creative project. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon.  Thanks Linds!

It's Time to Make Your Reservation!

Yes Friends, it's THAT time of year - summer camping reservations are open in this neck of the woods and campgrounds fill up fast. I'll be spending a few days at Little Mill, Payson Lakes and at the Boss Lady's Summer home in Moroni, Utah this summer. Care to join me?  Log on to recreation.gov and make your reservations today!  Happy Camping!

NO, I'm not a forest ranger... although that would be AWESOME!  This is not a paid advertisement - it's just a reminder.

Schnibbling

As the days are getting warmer and I can smell spring on the breeze, it's getting harder and harder to spend sunny days inside.
Blurry Photo by Me and my unsteady iPhone
So here's the little 32 X 32 sweetie I've been working on in short increments the last few weeks.  The pattern is Plan C from the book Schnibbles Times Two by Carrie Nelson.

I've sent it off to my good friend Peggy for quilting and I can't wait to get it back so I can show you the finished product! This is my first attempt at mini-piecing, but I think I'm loving it!

Whataya think?
